Production Of The Pokémon Anime Has Been Put On Hold, Reruns To Be Shown In Japan

Production of the Pokémon anime series has been temporarily put on hold due to the current global pandemic’s impact in Japan.

TV Tokyo, the Japanese network which broadcasts Pokémon in the region, has updated its upcoming schedule, removing already-planned episodes and replacing them with reruns (thanks, Serebii). It’s currently unclear when new episodes will start to air once more or how this might impact the series’ western release.

The current series airing in Japan premiered in November of last year, with franchise protagonist Ash Ketchum joining new character Go in a journey which spans all Pokémon regions from Kanto to Galar.
